Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much do Cub Support programs cost?

$0. Zilch. Zero. Cub Support is a non-profit, student run, volunteer organization, and we are COMPLETELY FREE! We do not have any hidden fees or payments, and we will never ask you for a payment method of any sort.

  • Who are your tutors?

Cub Support tutoring is provided by current or former college students at accredited universities. All of our tutors undergo an interview process and background check to ensure quality.

  • Is there a deadline to sign up for programs

There is no deadline to sign your students up for our programs! You can sign up any time.

  • How do I sign my student(s) up for tutoring?

  • How can I submit new tutoring requests? How many requests can I make?

To request tutoring for your student in a specific subject, fill out the form on our website, which is linked here.

Each individual student is allowed to make two requests, and if you’d like to replace an old request, email ucbears4cubs@gmail.com.

  • How long does it take for a student to get paired / Why hasn't my student been paired yet?

Our team works to get your student paired as soon as possible with an estimated wait time of 2 weeks. We employ a first-come-first-serve approach, so we try and fulfill our requests in chronological order. In some instances, there might not be enough tutors available to teach a certain subject, which may result in a longer waiting period.

Please also keep in mind that Cub Support tutors are also current college students, which means that we have to juggle our academics in addition to running this organization. We apologize for extended wait times and will try our best to get your students paired as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!

  • What should I do if I missed the tutor's email?

We ask that if a tutor from our program reaches out to you and/or your student, you respond within 7 days of being contacted. If you miss this timeframe, you will unfortunately have to resubmit another tutoring request if you would still like to receive tutoring services from us.

  • What should I do if my student can't attend a scheduled session?

If a student is not able to attend a tutoring session, they must notify their tutor at least 24 hours in advance. This is extremely important, so the designated tutor(s) can make arrangements accordingly. If your student(s) misses a session without notifying us, you may have to fill out a new tutoring request form.

  • Can I give my tutor a gift card or any other gift for their hard work?

Tutors are not allowed to receive monetary gifts and we ask that you refrain from sending any. However, we do encourage thank you notes or virtual cards since tutors appreciate them.

  • Do Cub Support tutors only tutor in English?

Fortunately, we have several multilingual tutors! Cub Support currently has tutors that are fluent in Mandarin, Spanish, and many other languages! If receiving tutoring in a language other than English is of interest to you and your student(s), please be sure to note that in the forms when you’re signing your student(s) up!

  • Is there a deadline to sign up to be a tutor?

Because our students are signing up on a rolling basis, we also accept tutor applications on a rolling basis. There is currently no deadline to apply to be a tutor.

  • How can I share Cub Support with my peers or organizations?

Please feel free to share our website with any families that could benefit from this free tutoring service! This will help us serve more students moving forward.
